Keeping cold water storage tanks clean and free from nutrients, scale and corrosion will reduce the risk of exposure to legionella bacteria. Removing scale and biofilm is important as nutrients can be hidden within a biofilm forming a barrier to disinfectants.
Annual inspection of cold water storage tanks will determine if cleaning and disinfection is required, as stated in part 2 of the HSG274.
Our cleaning and disinfection services are carried out by our in-house fully trained engineers, who follow specific method statements and procedure to ensure the work complies with the latest HSG274 and ACoP L8 including COSHH regulations.
Among other, the ACoP L8 and HSG274 recommends that the following equipment be regularly cleaned and disinfected:
- Cold Water Storage Tanks
- Hot Water Calorifiers
- Cooling Towers
- Humidifiers and Evaporative Condensers
- Adiabatic Coolers
- Water Features
- Car and Vehicle Washes
